Sweet Almond Oil is a mild, hypoallergenic oil, meaning that it is safe for those with sensitive skin to use - including baby skin. It’s high vitamin A content may prevent future acne breakouts, and as a remedy against bacteria overgrowth, also assists with the relief of inflammation, itchiness and redness of psoriasis or eczema. A 2007 study in India found it to slow down the effects as well as act as a preventative measure against UV damage.
Amla Berry Extract is celebrated in Ayurvedic medicine as a powerful source of vitamin C. Also known as Indian gooseberry, it’s often taken as a supplement to enhance food absorption. This particular vitamin C source is bonded with tannins, meaning that light and heat cannot break the bonds, increasing its effectiveness for longer. This study found that it stimulates pro-collagen, while this study found it to protect skin from collagen damage after exposure to UV rays. The antioxidant properties of whole Indian gooseberries contain 75 times the antioxidant power of goji berries, 60 times the antioxidant power of pomegranate, 50 times the antioxidant power of raw blueberries. That’s a lot.
Coenzyme Q10 is an antioxidant protecting the cells in your body from damage. The level of coenzyme Q10 within the skin peaks between 20 to 30 years of age and then gradually diminishes thereafter, and we must replenish from our topical treatments. CoQ10 applied directly to the skin has been shown to reduce oxidative damage caused by UV rays and even decrease the depth of wrinkles.
Natural Fragrance (fig and oriental rose) - Traditionally, ‘Fragrance’ is an ambiguous ingredient in any listing, even if it’s been labelled from ‘natural sources’, or ‘natural fragrance’. According to the EWG, the average “fragrant” can be any of 3,163 chemicals that aren’t normally listed on labels. Many of these chemicals are linked to hormone disruption and allergic reactions as they fall usually under phthalates, oxtoxynols and nonoxynols. If a fragrance is natural, it could be labelled on the ingredients list in its botanical name.
