This Australian made and owned brand, The Jojoba Company, has developed a range based on Australian made Jojoba. The golden liquid wax produced from the jojoba bean is native to Southwestern North America, and is praised by Native Americans for its skin restoration properties. The molecular structure of Jojoba wax esters to human sebum gives this oil the ability to penetrate deep into the skin for ultimate moisturisation and to add protection to our external environment.

Suitable for any skin type, this product is cold-pressed and filtered fourteen times to ensure purity while retaining the vitamins from the original beans. This product is not heat-filtered or refined.

Who are The Jojoba Company?

The Jojoba Company was founded by a father and daughter team, Ian Turner and Vicki Engsall in 2008. The brand is 100% Australian made, from farm to bottle, ensuring the process also 100% natural. The company is the first in the world to develop an entire skin range from the Jojoba bean.

The farm is located in Australia’s Riverina region in Yenda, NSW, where the plantation is based on sustainability. The Jojoba plant is suited to our dry environment, is salt tolerant and needs very little water to thrive, meaning Ian and Vicki don’t need to add chemicals to the plant as it’s self-sufficient in growth. Their Jojoba is virgin cold-pressed, and filtered fourteen times for absolute purity, allowing it’s golden colour to reflect their very thoughtful process.

First impressions

Fragrance:
The Jojoba Company’s jojoba oil has a slightly nutty smell.

Texture:
It could be referred to as ‘liquid gold’, this consistency is a runny oil. Easily spreadable, you only need one pump of this to cover your face and neck.

Efficacy:
The purity of this jojoba oil makes it suitable for all skin types. As the jojoba wax esters are the closest in chemical composition to our human sebum, the skin recognises this wax and allows it to penetrate the skin. The largest benefit is that it helps restore skin resilience by balancing oil production, calming sensitivities, reducing outbreaks, and of course, provides long-lasting hydration.

Packaging review

This product uses one type of plastic in its packaging.

Bottle: Glass - See more about Glass and its impact
Pump: PP- See more about PP and its impact
Stainless Steel Spring
Label: Screen-printed

This packaging is a light, opaque-glass bottle to showcase the colour of the Jojoba oil. Showcasing jojoba oil colour is a huge advantage so the customer is guaranteed it hasn’t been over-refined.

The benefit of having amber glass packaging, however, is so the product is not affected by light as much, whereas this glass has exposed it.

The Good

Simmondsia Chinensis (jojoba) Seed Oil is a powerful anti-inflammatory, acts as an ally in the fight against oxidative stress - an imbalance between the production of free radicals on the skin and the ability of the body to detoxify. It’s also rich in iodine, which fights harmful bacteria growth that leads to breakouts. As Jojoba oil is so close to the chemical makeup that is human sebum, it’s no surprise that it’s high in vitamin E, found in the highest concentrations in sebum. Lastly, its potent levels of B Complex vitamins makes it a powerhouse in helping to fight off free radicals on the skin which are otherwise typically reactive, destroying healthy cells and tissues.

The Questionable

There are no questionable ingredients in this product.
